Left Over Mashed Potatoed 1868

From Mom's Recipes Box.

Left Over Mashed Potatoes, 1868

Add enough flour to make a dough thick enough that can be  rolled out, a shake of Salt and Pepper added to flour. Roll out on floured board, then cut in oblong pieces then roll each oblong piece into  kind of a  horn shape by putting a thumb on a corner and roll around.
Dry these as you would dry fruit.
These can be added to soups or broths - cook covered about 7 minutes till they come to top.

Cinnamon Rolls.

Growing up, we had homemade sweets all the time. Cakes, cookies, brownies, crisps and cobblers. Mom grew up in Rural Missouri, and everyone worked hard every day. Her grandfather raised and trained mules. He used the mules every day.  Mules knew he had a treat for them and it may have been a cookie or a treat out of the garden.

.Turkey Hash

From Mom's Recipes box.
As a single Mom of three kids, Mom couldn't afford to toss out left-overs. She came up with many ways to make over left-overs. I would help her as I grew up.
After we had finished our Thanksgiving dinner and we were clearing the table, we would make up plates, to wrap in plastic wrap, and then freezer paper. Then labeled and placed in the freezer, to become T.V. dinners. Mom and I would strip the meat off the bones making sure we didn't leave any small bones in the meat. Mom also saved the broth from the pan. Some, she poured over the stuffing that was left over. Some was frozen, to use in Turkey noodle soup, some to make gravy for those T.V. dinners.

Jan 2nd

Time to catch yp.
I tried to pist a handmade card every day between the day after Thanksgiving to Christmas Day.
I've posted two cards for January already.

We did very little decorating, this year. A teal ball I found in my tub of clothes, went over Hubby's table. I put the three cards we got in the walls but one kept falling off.

I put out a couple of kitchen towels and a couple of pot holders.
I didn't even wear all of my holiday tops.

Heather gave both of us Adult trikes. I am having a lot of trouble with my knees when I try to peddle it. I am stretching and exercise both and my left knee is doing better.

My greenhouse was torn apart by the wind the week before Christmas. It was very cold just after that. Yet, we were in the 60s on Christmas day.. and we have stayed in the 60s since. A cold front is due tomorrow, but not excessively cold. Our day time highs in the 50s and lies at or above freezing for  the rest of this week.

The "new" TV has been sent back to the rental place, to repair it. After a rolling black out furniture g that cold spell, it developed a line across the screen. I could barely see it, but it was there. The lianer lasted until Sunday morning. It quit working completely so we brought our smaller TV back into the living room

Christmas dinner was more a brunch, at Heather's. Home. Breakfast foods. Bailey was in New York with her boyfriends' family and Liam spent Christmas Eve with his Dad and half brother.
