Aug 31, 2011

Good Morning,  I am back online, full time again. (I think)

We now have the code for the wifi here at the campground. (having to pay $10 each for it) and no downloading large files, or movies. not that we ever did a movie in the first place. I just wonder if that also goes for t.v. shows... most likely. I'll let Jerry find out when he tries to watch his Ice Road Truckers.

The move was un-eventful. The dogs are loving the outdoors here and we had one of the cats get out this moring. By the time I opened the door he was more than willing to run back inside and hide in one of the kennels.  This place is filled up and almost every one seems to have a dog. most are on a line but a few are not, including the 3 behind us. So far, we have been lucky to not have them meet our dogs, but they do like to come into my yard while he's out "walking" them.. they pee in our yard.. I will have to speak up more, if I find any poop in the yard.  No reason for him to let all three run loose. As long as mine are on lines and they do as I say, all is good.  We, that is the dogs, got to meet the mastiff that is here, this morning. he cam to "see" the new dogs and my dogs wanted to "see" him.. no barking, growling or other aggressive behavor so all is good. As long as mine keep behaving like this, we will not have any troubles.   Since the man next door met our dogs last night, he's more aware of their size and temperament now, I think.  I've met his dogs and they act much like my own. I just don't want to feel like I have to check to see which dogs are out loose when my dogs behave and are on leads, which is standard in places like this.

We are having power problems.. and the breaker needs replaced. The man who does that sort of work, also has a day job and will be back this evening with a new breaker. he said it was a bad breaker. I told him I have to turn off the hot water tank before 10, when the sun starts to hit the power box, or we trip the breaker. It's got a soft touch to it. Tripped it 4 times the day we moved in. Twice on Sunday, 4 on Monday and 3 times yesterday, and that was after I turned off the hot water tank for the day.

We have the sunshields in all the windows but one.  And that helps but it still gets in the low 80's in here in the after noon. We have no shade. Momma D is having more spaces put in on the next level below this one and we will have first pick if we want to move the camper to one. Still no shade from the west, but we could move closer to the east side and have shade until about 11 am.  I just hate moving the camper, but if we can have our choice, then I may do that anyway to make walking the dogs easier for us. It's right on the boundry for some federal land and that's a nice place to walk the dogs.. We took a bit of a walk down a road this moring and I hope to walk further tomorrow down the same road.  I try to add a bit more each day to how far I walk, but a lot depends on how I feel.

Because we are so far from any good size town, I'll have to cook on pay days.  Ah well.. I figured that would happen.  But we are spending some time outside in the evening and not just on the couch in front of the t.v.

August 22

Good Morning.... Well.  Let's see. Going back to Mid-week. Jerry called me to let me know he was on his way back home, around 9:30.  He went back to work on Satureday at 9:30 and for the next month, has to be in at 5:30 in order to get the daily water ready for on the job, for everyone. I'm sure this is suppose to be some sort of puniment, but to lose 30 hours, then work 11 1/2 hour days means he's going to make more money by the end of the month that he's lost for the 30 hours off work. Sure, it means getting up a bit earlier, only about 1/2 and hour or so eariler. But I can get a lot more done early in the morning while itls cooler, as well. We took advantage of the sistuation and on Thursday, we went Geo Caching. Jerry had a list of about 11 and we found all but 4 of them. One we didn't look for because it was in a very busy area. The other three, We just didn't find at all. If you read my blog you can read the story of the day. Friday,  We slept in until 10 am. Now that's not to say I didn't get up around 6, and walked the dogs and let the cats out, cause I did, then I put the cats back into a kennel and went back to bed.  We ate "Brunch", a very late breakfast, really.  Jerry could pick up his check around 3 pm so we thought we would check out some R.V parks closer to the job, and a quick run into Kentucky for a Geo-cache so we could add another state to our list of "finds".  We checked out 3 R.V. parks.  All much more expencive that this one, None had Wi-Fi. and two were just skanky. The first is just off the interstate. and they are packed. Parked so close together that I doubt you could fart and the neighbor not hellp but smell it. And no place to walk the dogs at all. No place to walk and the noise from the traffic was just loud. We checked out another one, much closer to the job. the only site he had open, was way too short for our camper.  The man there said he didn't think we would fit. But then again, he did say he may have a spot come open within two weeks. doubt it though. it's less that 1/2 a mile from the job. The third R.V. park we went to was, um.. intresting. There were two spots open, buth too short. While we were there though, some of the men were getting home from work and that's when the dogs came out. and not a one was on a lead and it didn't seem like any one really cared or not in the office.  i would have liked being there, but only because there was plenty of room to walk and for the dogs to play. The place is much more campground and is having a motorcycle event this next weekend. Music, bands, "games". and such. They also run a canoeing busmess where they take you to the small river, you put in, go down the river and they pick you up at the other end. That would be fun, if I know more how to swim. although you do have to wear a life vest so that would be ok by me.  She did take our name for a spot if one comes open but we really doubt if she'll call back. She wasn't so sure about our dogs. Don't know why,  We really should have taken them with us, I guess. She did mention that Elk's Harbor may have some sites open as they are expanding. When we left Jerry decided we could follow a different road to get home. It took us over three more hours to get home. The dogs and cats were sure happy to see us come in and let them out of the kennels.  Saturday, Jerry and I had to be up by 7 so he could be back to work at 9: 30.   Sunday.. yesterday.   .  . We slept in a bit. Jerry walked the dogs and that's what woke me up. I cleaned out the cat box. peeuuu. A total cleaning was needed. We ate breakfast at Shoney's and then went to the laundry mat next door to do jeans and two blankets that the machines here at this campground won't handle. We had all the laundry with us, but decided to just do what was needed. Cost was one reason, time another. We did the grocery shopping on our way home. We were able to keep that under $80 for the two of us. But we also didn't get much produce. The tomatoes were all brused and so were the cucumbers. I don't care how cheap it is.if it's still going to go bad before I can use it,, there's no reason to buy it. We did get lettuce and green peppers. Won't make much of a salad but that's what we have. After we got home, put away the grocries, walked the dogs and just rested a bit. We left to go check out Elk's Harbor R.V. campground. It was about an hour's drive away, but a nice country drive. And we ended up reserving a spot for us to move to, next weekend. it's much closer to where Jerry is working.

Good Morning... August 11

Oh, um.. Good Afternoon is more like it.  Jerry is home again today. once he wakes up again, we may head to the urgent care clinic that is just down the road a bit. I'm hoping I don't have to go with him, but he may want me to, anyway. He was doing ok for a little while this morning. But then he got up and even before I started making his breakfast he started to not feel so well. He's better but not good. I'l letting him sleep as much as he wants and trying to keep the dogs and cats from bothering him too much.
It's another nice day outside. I'm planning another long walk this evening with the dogs, only not as late as yetserday's walk. I would like to get back to our camper before it gets too dark. Ah, I noticed yesterday, while looking out the window that it looks more like the first week of September out there than the second week of August. Do you know what I mean?  It's still hot outside but not as hot.  The air feels different, as well.  It's easier to breath, at least to me. The dogs seem to want to walk further. They Pull a bit more in certain areas as well. Got to make them stop doing that. I know it's because other dogs are in the area and they want to visit. There are also cats in the area and my dogs want to visit with them, as well.  I do wonder just how long this weather is going to last. I would love to get into the pool a couple of more times. I don't go alone at all. I dont' even go in through the gate since I don't tan and just want to get wet in the shallower end of the pool.
We seem to have a peeping kid.  She's a cute little thing and she wants to come see the kitties in the back window. Dad had a hard time with her yesterday keeping her away from the back of our camper and I think our cats were encouraging her to come peek inside. I saw him lead her away at least 4 times.
Because Jerry didn't feel well, at all. I just had a sandwich and chips for din ner and watermelon for dessert. I hope that it stays cool enough that I can start to do a bit of cooking. tonights meal will be  Beef Sausage, Salad, Mac and Cheese and melon for dessert.

8 10 11

Good Morning. Jerry is not feeling well so he stayed home from work today. He was up for a little bit, but has gone back to bed. He is now asleep and has three cats and one dog in the bed with him. I think they want him to feel better as well.
I'll do the rest of the laundry this afternoon. While I was putting away the clothes I washed yesterday, I noticed that Jerry didn't have any jeans left in his drawer. He has two pairs of pants left, but they are not jeans. I need my cut off sweats shorts as well. So I'll just have to do the rest today instead of spreading it out a bit more.
Well, then.. maybe I'll have my dinner out tomorrow, if Jerry is back to work. I enjoyed the meal I had at the buffet place just down the road last week with Heather.  As usual, it's a bit hard to do my daily work with Jerry home. I did clean the kennels this moring. Both were a mess. Yuck. And we have had to put cats in kitty jail. One for jumping on the counter and the other for curtain climbing. All are out of jail, for now. But, if they keep up the jumping and running I may have to rejail them so Jerry can get more rest.
Outside my door ... Wow. what a nice morning walk we had. Of course the dogs down the driveway were barking at us.. all 6 or 7 of them. Noisy little things. At least my dogs knew why we were out and were willing to get "there" and get done. I'll take them for another walk here in a bit, and then a short round of the driveways so they can stretch their legs a bit. Nothing like my brother's sled dogs, who love to run, but a good walk is what we all need. I can't help it that other peoples' dogs bark at my dogs. I'm walking on the road / driveway. Its just so much nicer to walk than it was last week. According to Weather Channel, our high is going to be mid 80's. Almost unheard of for the second week of August, Usually it's still in the low 90's.  I'll take this weather. Believe me I love it.
I talked to Beth a bit yesterday. She got a pacakage in the mail, that she just loves. She's starting to panic a bit because she doesn't have much baby stuff. She got a very lovely quilt from my friend, Cindi, in South Africa. What a great gift. Beth has been doing a bit of shopping. Got a few onies's and a few other things but since she doesn't have any room to store much, she's getting a bit antsy to get into her own place before the baby is born.
From the kitchen... Beef Sausage, Salad, Mac and Cheese. At least that's what the plan is. May change if Jerry doesn't want to have this.  I think we better eat the rest of the watermelon soon. I had some as part of breakfast and it's not going bad yet but I doubt it's going to last much longer either.
I am wearing... kakie shorts and a white tshirt. Just about my every day wear is a t shirt any more. I need to pick up a few more soon, though. These are no longer whilte.

Good Morning...

Good Morning... Well, it's still mid morning. I headed back to bed around 7 am. and was up around 9, thanks to two of the cats. They were fast asleep when I laid down.  They then started playing. Now they are all in Kitty Jail.  Jerry checked out a house and said "NO". He was over two hours late getting home, because it was on a winding road and it was slow to drive, and then he got on 24, to 40 and although it was interstate. it was still a long ways to drive. He ate dinner, then went to bed. I don't blame him none.  I just feel bad that the place was is such sorry shape. We don't mind having to do a little fixing up, but not a grand re-do.
We have rain this morning, but I just checked the Weahter Channel and once this is out, we should just have a few clouds. I hope we have clouds all day so the camper does not heat up too much.
The dogs know we didn't move much. Last night, I got one of Jerry's head lights. It's a light on a headband. I need both hands to walk the dogs at times.  I wasn't paying that much attention and we ended up behind the camper. The dogs still want to explore and I don't want to, at least not at night.  Yesterday, we took a short walk and three dogs came out barking. All are on lines, but the look that man gave me while he was putting his dogs up.. well I'd be a puddle if looks could kill.  If he ever says something, I'll just tell Mike. I was on the road, and I have as much right to walk my dogs on the road as any one else.
The Cats are in Kitty jail this morning. Two for counter jumping and two for waking me up! I had to wash out both kennels this morning after waking up. They were clean when I let them out at 4 am, They all had plenty of time to "take care of busness" before they were put back in at 6 am.  But while I had them out from under the shelf, I swept up where they belong and cleaned up so it wasn't too bad.
From the kitchen, we are going to have Chicken Tenders, Salad. Rice, and Watermelon for dinner tonight. I'm not sure if I'm going to bake the chicken or cook it in a skillet.  A lot will depend on how warm it is this afternoon before I start cooking. Save a Lot had a sale of 5 for $19.99 and I took advantage of it, last week. These Tenders are pre-seasoned so all I have to do is put them in and let them cook.
I am hearing the T.V. (as usual) The View is just going off. I have 1/2 an hour before Y&R comes on.  It would be a good time to walk the dogs, if I could just get them to wait this long. We already took our second walk of the day. A short one, I admit.  I'll try to get a longer walk in this evening.
I am wearing jean shorts and my purple flowered top.  I have to do laundry this afternoon. I just pooped out yesterday afternoon. I don't want to have to do laundry on Jerry's only day off. So I'll do a load a day and see how that works out for us. I'll go once Y&R is over with and see how much time it takes to do one cycle. Usualy it's only about an hour.\
I am reading? I'll have to get in the closet and pick out a book to take with me over to the office to read while the laundry is being done. I have several books on the shelf and I really should start reading again.
A few plans for the rest of the week, besides laundry, is to keep the camper cleaner. I've gotten lazy the last few weeks and been letting things slide.  I really do need to keep on top of things or I'll letl it just get to me and make me depressed. The heat wasn't helping and having all the shields in all the windows didn't help either. I sure don't want to put them back in, but I may have to, in order to keep the camper cool enough.

August 8

Good Morning... What a weekend. Jerry was told mid week that from here out, they are working 60 hours per week.  Oh boy. (overtime) Good thing we didn't make any plans for the weekend.
So now we can only sleep in one day a week. Yeah, right. the dogs had us up by 6:30 because of the thunder they heard. I got them out just in time. Just as we got back in the house, it started raining. Part of what woke us up was we lost power for a few seconds. Everything came back one and by the time I had taken  the dogs out, gotten "dressed", taken my med's and all the rain had all but stopped.
Putting all the animals into the kennels, we went out for breakfast at "The Farmer's Market".  I ended up spilling a full cup of coffee when I reached for the Salt. The bottom of the salt shaker caught on the wire rack the salt and pepper are in, and it tipped every thing over into my coffee cup. what a mess.  But I didn't let it ruin my day. I just moved to the other side of the table and I got another cup of coffee. "The Farmer's Market" is a buffet style place to eat. Jerry likes it better than Shone's. Not by much.
From there, we went driving around.  If only this area was closer to his job. We found a few nice places that are for rent. But this hour one way drive is really taking it's toll on Jerry.
On Saturday night, we both were looking on Craig's list for houses for rent. One place, when the person wrote back, was a scam.. saying how he's out of country and on a mission... I wrote back. that we are no longer interested. Even if he's legit (I read a note on Craig's list that it's a scam) I do not want to deal with someone who is not at least in the state, and would much prefer someone who is in the city or county the house is in. Anyway. I had found one ad, that I thought I had answered last week, but wrote to it again anyway, leaving Jerry's phone number. No reason to give mine, I'm not in the area to go look at any place, Jerry will have to look after work. Well, we got a call and Jerry is going to check it out after work today. He may get a rain out, that would be good, in a way, since he could use some of the day to look for either a campground or a house for us to rent that is much closer to the job.
Back to Sunday's adventures.  After our drive, and we did see some nice country down some nice country roads, We stopped and I got to look for a Geocache that I had on a watch list and had received a note that it was still there. Jerry let me get out and look for it. There it was, under the edge of the fancy part, close to the ground. Signed the log (still need to log it on the Geo Cache site) no pictures, as we both forgot our camera's. We were not expecting to look for any caches.  We get back to the camper, and, guess what?  NO POWER. Thinking we may have just tripped a breaker, we did the usual breaker check. Both inside, then out. Well none were tripped. So I go look at the neighbor's meter and it's working.  Hum.  hum. hum..... Jerry goes up and tells Mike we have no power. That we had power after the lights flickered but now we don't. He comes down and does the breaker check like we did. His handyman comes down and also does the breaker check and checks the meter next to us and sees that it's working. Gets out a meter and there's a back feed from somewhere up the line. Seems ours is the only site it's effected.
We had to move to a different site. Not what Jerry wanted to do on his day off work.  I had to move things off counters and the TV so nothing would fall and get broken while Jerry was undoing things outside. Mike goes and finds an open site we can have.  Finally found a site. We try driving in from one direction, um.. that's not going to work, so we go up to the office, turn the rig around (Give me 40 Acers song reminder) and head into the site from the other direction. In order to get all the lines to reach. we have to almost pull all the way to the road and there isn't a way for Jerry to park the van behind the camper and still get out if someone parks behind us. which someone did last night. So he had to park sidewise in front of the camper.
while setting up, the sewer hose finally broke. I say finally since I have been telling Jerry we really need to replace it since before we left Jackson AL.  We have just been lucky that it lasted this long.
At least this site wasn't as hard to get the camper level on. We now have some extra blocks of wood. I have to take the dogs further to potty. At least it's not as hot as it was last week.
When we made "one more trip" to Wal-mart, I picked up some Kiwi and some Apricots as well as a watermelon. I have been wanting watermelon since July 4 th. I cut up the cantaloupe we had in the fridge after dinner last night. I'll cut up the watermelon something today.
Well, it's almost 5:30 and I need to clean the camper, again. I want to get it all done before the sun comes up and starts heating it up, in here.
I did explain to Mike that his meter does not have an outlet for 110 and that this tin can heats up more than the overhead air can cool. Can us still plug into the 110 at the box during the heat of the day with the window unit. Sure, no problem.  I think we surprised him in asking and not in just doing it.

Outside my door ... Still to dark to tell. But if I can trust the weatherman. we are going to get wet this afternoon.

The Dogs ... think we really moved the camper a long way. and want to explore everything. I'll have to take them for a walk once the sun comes up so they know we didn't move far.

The Cats ... are trying to get into my pot of catnip. I have to take it outside today. I need to find a good, shady place, to put it. It really took off when we got here and I had it in the shade. I may break off a few leaves and put them in a kennel for the cats.

From the kitchen...  I'm not sure what I'm going to make for dinner, just yet.  We had hot dogs yesterday. Jerry said that sandwiches would work last night, but I wanted more than just bread and meat. I cut up some green peppers, 1/2 a cucumber and a tomato that really was all but gone and a few baby carrots to go with the hot dogs.  I need to check the fridge and figure out a menu plan for this week.

I am hearing...  I have the TV on. That's normal. The weather is on, still looks like Clarksville is going to get socked this afternoon. with temps around 90 to 92 for the area.

I am wearing... right now, a house dress. Not the blue one but a shorter, lighter one.  I'll take a shower here in a bit then put on shorts and a white T-shirt.

I am reading... emails and recipes

I am creating... I have to find a shipping box to send out a Swap in. The theme is the letter "C" and it's ready to go.  Mike said if I took him the box, he'd send it out for me, when I explained I can't get the van. Until I get my glasses replaced I am not doing any driving.

A few plans for the rest of the week... We never did get to the laundry over the weekend. We did pick up a luggage cart. ( two wheel, foldable) that I can strap a tub to and take a tub at a time to the laundry room which is cheaper than the local Laundromats by almost 1/2. If I get most of the camper cleaned before 9, I can go do a load of laundry a day today, tomorrow and Wednesday.

August 5, 2011

Good Morning... Wow, I'm writing this in the morning !! ha ha. I almost didn't make it this time, either. I went back to bed thinking I'd be up by 8 and it was 10. I just i really needed the sleep. I've gotten breakfast and med out of the way. Said my prayers. Straightened up the Bathroom and scooped out the cat box, then I've taken the dogs out, again. So much more to go, but I feel better today and so I may get more done.  I' have to see if I still have the leak over the fridge from the air conditiner. (got an idea to ask Jerry about on that) If it's not leaking then I can use that dish pan. otherwise, I'll need to clean out the one I have filled with plastics under the sink and start using that one.  and I do need to clean the counter by the fridge and re-arrange it, again.
Oh, it looks like I just walked the dogs in time to miss a summer shower. It just got darker outside. (just checked weather channel map, and it looks like I'm right)  I saw someone up on their roof, cold coating it. I hope he gets done before it starts to rain. We need the rain around here. the trees are shedding leafs and that's never a good thing this time of the year.
The cats and dogs seem to have recovered from the constant attention the Grand Kids gave them while they were here visiting.  Smokey is still laying around and wants to be carried everywhere. Tupelo is still hiding but that's the normal for her. Fuzzybutt wants Jerry to hold her all the time. She can't wait for him to sit down so she can get on his arm. Strips has been getting into more trouble than usual. Jumping up on the sink, in plain sight of me. Running from end to end. When he starts that, Smokey will chase him. I would like to think that it's because Smokey knows that running like that gets everyone put into kitty jail.
It was so hot yesterday that we ate out. Jerry needed to put gas in the van anyway. I needed to run into Wal-Mart anyway. I picked up some drink mix for him, some yarn to finish up the baby blanket I'm making for Baby Heather, and some Cutter's bug spray. Yes, it worked this morning to keep my legs itch free. I put some on last night but still had an itch. I'm not sure if it was a bug or just an old bug bite that was healing.
Ah.. the sweet sound of rain on the roof top. Such a nice sweet sound when it's been so hot outside. I do hope that it cools things down even more and not just raise the humidity. And. I don't have to water my one pot of Catnip I have growing outside the doorway.  I really want to pick up a couple of small planters and get some flowers for by my door. But it will have to be flowers that repel bugs and not attract them. Maigolds are good for that.
I had to trim my grey shorts a bit more. they were just a tad too long.  Also they were a bit crooked so I fixed that before putting them on this morning.
